Food and service was great! All the dishes were very flavorful. My favorites were the chicken satay and beef rendang with coconut rice. I would highly recommend Nyonya as a place to go. Cash only.

My sister and I have been coming to Nyonya for over a decade; it is hands down our favorite spot for Malaysian food and quite possibly one of the very best New York City has to offer. Over the years, we've brought both close friends and family members who have had nothing but praise for the food. The service and wait time varies from visit to visit, but the food more than makes up for it. Faves/Must Orders: * Roti Prata * Pad Thai * Hainanese Chicken with Rice * Curried Chicken with Rice * Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper * Pulut Hitam **CASH ONLY!

I was looking for good Malaysian in the area, and this place came through! It was fairly busy with Asians on a weekday at lunch hour, which is always a good sign. I got the roti canai, which was my first ever roti canai, so I admit I don't have much to compare it to. It was 10/10 delicious and a must-order when you come here. The roti is paper-thin and shatters into beautiful shards as soon as you break into it. It's light, crispy, and not too oily. The curry is flavorful and even had some meat in it. The portion is quite generous too, so it's a pretty good value. I also got the beef rendang rice plate, which again, came with a generous portion. The beef was very tender and flavorful, but it was a bit wetter and quite a bit greasier than other beef rendangs I've had in the past. The oil formed a puddle all around the outside of the beef and made this quite a heavy dish. I could only really manage a few bites of this after the roti canai. Luckily the leftovers reheated nicely. The restaurant itself is quite nice inside (nice enough for a date night), and my waiter was fine, though I was annoyed that he packed my beef rendang and rice all in one container without asking me how I wanted it packed or letting me pack away my leftovers on my own. Since the rendang was so greasy, this meant the rice became drenched in oil. Note that they are cash-only!

CASH ONLY Our friends wanted to take us here and while I was a little skeptical reading the reviews, this is the real deal. 4 of us had: - Roti (thin): good classic dipping into the curry sauce - Kang Kung Belacon: this was surprisingly my FAVORITE dish of the night. I've never had a veggie dish with more umami flavor than this one. I wish I could buy whatever shrimp paste they used for this dish. - Hainanese chicken: not bad, but not necessarily something I have to get again. - We got a shrimp noodle dish that was good and would get again but don't remember the name. - I think we had one more dish too but can't remember now.

Food was delicious and staff were very attentive. Didn't have to wait to be seated despite the restaurant being very busy due to Chinese New Year & Valentine's Day crowd. The restaurant was very family friendly, but also accommodating for couples.

I ate at Nyonya three times now and the food has been consistently great every time. At this point it's definitely one of my favorite spots in Chinatown. I love that the place is also quite spacious and can accommodate a lot of people! On one of their busier days, I only had to wait 15 minutes for a party of two. I tried many things from their menu but so far Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper Platter and their Prawn Mee are my favorite so far. The flavors for the Prawn Mee are just so unique. Unfortunately their drinks are very watered down, but it's not a big deal considering that their food is solid across the board.

Cash only! "Authentic" Malaysian food, according to my Malaysian friend. Good prices (great lunch special menu), in a clean and quiet ambience that feels a little in between an upscale Chinese and Japanese restaurant (lots of dark wood). Lots of stir fries, noodles and coconut curry options. Huge menu. I'll be back to try more!

CASH ONLY!!! This place doesnt accept cards or other forms of payment. Tried roti canai(thin and crispy),sarat chicken,Malaysian noodles and kari ayam. Loved the food.Everything tasted wonderful. The place is huge with many tables. The food came out pretty quick. One negative is the staff could have better attitude towards customers.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC--there aren't a lot of Malaysian places where I am so this place is such a delight every time I've come here. The interior is simple, no frills but the food is always outstanding. Even though they have been very busy the times I have come, I've always been seated fairly quickly. Note that they are a cash only establishment--so definitely plan ahead! They have an extensive menu so I haven't been able to try it all. The roti canai is a must--it is crispy, airy, light and soft all at the same time and the dipping sauce it comes with is savory goodness and the perfect appetizer. To pair with our meal, we also ordered the Indian mee goreng which is a noodle stir fry as well as the beef rendang with a side of coconut rice. I'm not sure what spices go into the rendang but this is one of the best that I've had! Definitely block off time for a major food coma afterwards as it is a cozy comforting and flavor bomb of a meal. Oh how I wish Nyonya was closer!
